Pet urine
This part is honest advice from our crews. Some stains get much worse when people try home fixes before calling us. Sometimes they become permanent. A dog or cat accident doesn't look scary at first. But urine that sits in the carpet starts changing the color of the fibers. The longer it sits, the deeper it soaks – carpet, backing, padding. At some point the discoloration becomes permanent, and if urine soaked deep and old, no cleaning brings that spot back. Call us early. Fresh urine spots we can usually treat fully. Old ones – we'll be honest about what's possible.
Blood
Accidents happen – a cut finger, a scraped knee, a nosebleed. Whatever you do, don't scrub blood with hot water. Heat sets blood into the fibers, and after that the stain is many times harder to remove. People try, the stain locks in, and then our job gets much harder too. Leave it. Call us. Cold-treated fresh blood usually comes out well.
Slime and paint
Parents know slime. It ends up in the carpet, always. People attack it with whatever chemical is under the sink – sometimes even professional products, but in the wrong amounts. Too strong or too much, and you can burn the carpet. The chemical damage is often worse than the slime was. Same story with paint drips. Don't experiment on the carpet, it only has one life.
Chlorine and bleach
This one hurts to see. Someone cleans a spot with a chlorine product, and days later there are reddish or orange patches. That's not a stain – the bleach ate the dye out of the fibers. It cannot be cleaned back. That patch is permanent damage, and the only fix is patching or replacing the carpet. If you're not sure what a product does, don't put it on the carpet. FAQ's
Can you clean carpet in a downtown high-rise?
Yes, that's a specialty. Truck-mounts can't run hoses up a tower. Our portable extractors pump 500 PSI with 182 inches of water lift, up on your floor. Same result as a ground-floor job.
My dog peed on the carpet. Is it fixable?
Usually yes, if you call soon. Fresh urine we treat at the padding level, where the odor lives. Urine that sat for weeks can change the fiber color, and very old, deep saturation is sometimes permanent. We’ll tell you honestly at the estimate which one yours is.
There's blood on the carpet. What do I do?
Don’t touch it with hot water – heat sets blood permanently. Blot gently with cold water and call us. Fresh, cold-treated blood usually comes out well. After a hot-water attempt, the odds drop a lot.
Can old stains be fully removed?
Not always. Some set deep or damage the fibers over time. Bleach spots can’t be removed at all – that’s dye loss, not dirt. We explain any limits right away and agree on the next step.
How long does carpet take to dry?
Usually 3 to 8 hours. Thicker carpet and humid days take longer. Airflow helps – open a window or run a fan. We tell you what to expect before we leave.
Do you clean area rugs too?
Yes – area rugs, Oriental rugs, stairs, hallways. Delicate and older pieces get checked first, and the method is chosen based on what the rug can handle.
Will winter road salt come out?
Usually, if it hasn’t been ground in for months. Extraction lifts salt out of the fibers before it dries into a stain. Sooner is better.
